1820 The first savings bank in Sweden is formed in Gothenburg. The concept involves encouraging ordinary people to long-term saving.
1915 The first agricultural credit association in Sweden is founded in Västerhaninge to help farmers who have difficulty in obtaining loans through the normal banks of that time.
1974
The agricultural credit association changes its name to Föreningsbanken.
1997
Sparbanken and Föreningsbanken merge and form Föreningssparbanken.
2005
Hansabank becomes part of Föreningssparbanken.
2006
Föreningssparbanken changes its name to Swedbank.
